Theme-Oriented Group TherapyBrigham Young University

University of Utah Although there has been a rapid and recent increase in the use of "theme" groups, minimal empirical or conceptual evidence exists that articulates a model for developing and implementing theme group treatment. This article describes the three major influences on theme-oriented groups (theme-centered international, structured, and behavioral groups) and provides a comparison of the composition and structure of theme groups during the current decade. General principles underlying the development of theme-oriented groups are proffered.
