Early Professionals in Counseling PsychologyThe Academic SettingUniversity of North Texas This article considers some of the issues and concerns that confront academic counseling psychologists during the early professional years (6 to 10 years post-Ph.D.). Tenure, competency, role overload/burnout, and mobility issues are briefly discussed. Where appropriate, strategies or coping techniques for dealing with these issues and concerns are presented.
