Issues of New Professionals in Counseling PsychologyCommunity Mental Health CentersWoodhaven Counseling Associates, Omaha, NE The issues facing a new professional in a community mental health center (CMHC) are addressed. Appropriate training in graduate school with extended practicum experiences is recommended, along with extensive coursework in assessment and testing. Awareness of the issues involved in working with a broad client base is emphasized, as is the need for resources at many different levels. Both positive and negative aspects of CMHCs are discussed
